Welcome Aboard!
As the newest contributor to AIT's monthly eNewsletter, I'd like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself and explain my role as the manager of AIT's global network.
My name is Larry Georgen and my primary responsibility involves the day-to-day management of AIT's international partner community in terms of corporate communications, agent development and operational support.
Our mission statement:
AIT will strive to develop strategic alliances with like minded, quality organizations around the world to reinforce the efforts of AIT's international air and ocean teams.
These partnerships will provide operational and sales support that will meet or exceed the transportation demands of AIT's customers.
The objective of my participation in this publication is to heighten and increase our customer's knowledge of the names and countries that are represented by our international partners abroad. I'll introduce you to our agents around the world and keep you updated with the global network's latest news developments in each edition of the AIT eNewsletter.
Each month, I'll also be featuring 3 partners from core AIT markets around the world.
Please visit http://www.aitworldwide.com/Locations/AITWorldLocations.html to view our complete international network.
Unfortunately, we don't have partnership representation in all corners of the world. Therefore, should you ever have a logistical need in a part of the world that is not listed on the link provided above, please contact your AIT sales representative to begin the process of finding a partner and developing a solution for your logistical requirement.
I invite and encourage you to contact me directly should you ever have questions, concerns or comments about our proprietary agent network.
I trust you will find reading about our international partnership network both educational and interesting.
Expansion for Davies Turner
Davies Turner has opened a new multi-million pound distribution centre in Bristol
Davies Turner has completed the construction of a multi-million pound expansion to its freight and logistics hub at Avonmouth, Bristol, and the facility is now open for business.
The total area of the company's warehousing at Avonmouth now amounts to more than 15,000 m2, comprising the existing purpose-built transit facility plus the newly built distribution centre.
Built on a six acre site, the new distribution centre has 21 loading doors and can hold around 11,000 standard pallets in high bay racking. In addition, there are four mezzanine floors, giving an extra 8,000 m2 of operational floor area.
Following the completion of the new distribution centre, Davies Turner's Bristol Western Freight Terminal is now able to accommodate customers' full supply chain requirements for consolidation and transit goods, as well as full Customs-controlled logistics services.
Bristol is one of Davies Turner's key multi-modal freight hubs, serving South Wales and the West Country with satellite branches in Bridgend and Plymouth. The company's other Regional Distribution Centers are at Birmingham, Dartford, Heathrow, Manchester and Cumbernauld in Scotland, as well as Dublin in Ireland - with a further sixteen satellite branches supporting them.
Bulgaria - A Success Story for cargo-partner
cargo-partner has had its own office in Sofia since 2003. Shortly after its opening, the independent transport logistics provider established another office in the town of Plovdiv. Their activities have been thriving ever since, particularly in the area of air freight. In fact, cargo-partner has been ranked in the top 5 out of more than 100 companies operating in the Bulgarian market.
Bulgaria itself is an interesting country for the transportation industry, primarily because of its strategically convenient location at the Black Sea, commonly referred to as the "bridge to Asia." Several important harbors are located relatively close to the capital of Sofia, including the Greek Harbor of Thessaloniki and the Black Sea harbors of Varna and Burgas.
The future is definitely looking bright, especially since the industry of the country is continually growing: the next three years are expected so see growth rates of 5-6 %. cargo-partner is expected to exceed these growth rates of up to 30%.
